Level 42 Board Overview: The Jagged Tray and the Purple Bait

Level 42 looks open and colorful, and that is exactly how it gets you. The tray is a staggered, irregular shape with a chunk carved out of the left side, and it is stuffed with overlapping colors plus three pairs of Connected Boxes. Pink, Orange, Blue, and Green run the show up top.

Your front receiver Boxes want Pink, Orange, Pink, and Blue. That is a lot of Pink and Blue right out of the gate, and the board knows it — the marbles you need are scattered, while the marbles you don’t need are sitting in the most tempting spots.

The floor of the tray is a wall of heavy textured blocks: two Greens, a Black, and a Pink. You cannot finish the level without digging down to them, and you cannot dig safely until the belt is under control.

The Trap in Marble Sort Level 42

The danger here is forced collateral damage. Three linked pairs decide when your belt fills:

• Middle rows: a Purple linked to a Green. Tapping it drops both, and early on only one of them has a Box.
• Right edge: a Pink tied to an Orange. This one is actually your friend — both colors have active Boxes in the opening.
• Lower left, by the cutout: a Brown attached to a Black. Trigger it before a Black Box appears and the extra marble just rots on your belt.

Now the bottom queue, because it dictates everything. Column one runs Pink, Green, Orange, Black. Column two runs Orange, Blue, Green, Pink. Column three leads with Pink, then Brown, Black, Orange. Column four is three straight Blue Boxes with a single Purple buried at the very back.

That last fact exposes the two biggest baits on the board: the Purple in the upper-left and the Black marbles up top. Count the queue — there is no Purple Box in the first three rows of any column except the deep back of column four. Drop Purple early and it sits on your belt for almost the entire run. Same story for Black. Touch either in the opening and the level is effectively over.

Marble Sort Level 42 Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Play strictly front-to-back. A marble only moves when its Box is already waiting.

Opening: feed the front row and nothing else

1. Tap the loose Pink marbles on the right side of the tray. Two Pink Boxes are active — the far-left slot and the third slot — so feed them both immediately.
2. Trigger the Pink-Orange Connected Box on the right edge. An Orange Box is sitting in the second slot, so both marbles land legally without touching the belt.
3. Tap the Blue cluster in the lower-middle of the tray. The far-right Box wants Blue, and column four is stacked three Blue deep — this starts draining it.
4. Leave the upper-left Purple and every Black marble exactly where they are. Their turn is at the end.

Mid-game: follow the second layer of Boxes

Once the first wave of Pink, Orange, and Blue clears, Green and Brown Boxes start rotating forward.

5. Dig into the Green marbles now that Green Boxes are active.
6. Trigger the Purple-Green linked pair in the middle-left — but only when a Green Box is waiting. The Purple will park on the belt; make sure you have the slot for it.
7. Drop the Brown marbles on the lower left once Brown Boxes appear.
8. Hold the Brown-Black Connected Box until a Black Box is actually visible in the queue. Then fire it so both marbles have a destination.
9. Keep checking belt pressure between every tap. If a color has no front-row Box, it stays in the tray.

Endgame: break the textured floor

10. Sweep any loose marbles left in the upper layers. You should now be looking straight at the bottom floor: the textured Green, Black, and Pink blocks.
11. Match the floor blocks into their Boxes. They sit at the very bottom and block nothing, so they are always safe to pull.
12. Funnel the leftover Black and Purple marbles into the deep Boxes at the back of the queue — including that Purple hiding at the rear of column four — and the level closes out.

• Purple and Black have no early Boxes; parking them on the belt in the opening is an automatic fail.
• The Pink-Orange link is free value because both Boxes are active — the other linked pairs have to wait for the queue.
