Level 172 Board Overview: Numbered Tiles and a Mystery Cell

Level 172 opens with six tray columns and two special tiles planted in the left side of the board. The left column holds a pair of numbered blue tiles stacked above a Brown and a Pink, and the column next to it hides a mystery cell under a Light Pink. Marbles that land on these cells do not behave like ordinary slots: the numbered tiles change whatever passes over them and the mystery cell scrambles whatever falls into it, so the left third of the tray is unpredictable until you work through it deliberately.

The front row of receiver Boxes asks for Purple, Orange, Blue, and Green — four colors that are all reachable in the opening tray. Behind them wait Dark Gray, Pink, Yellow, Red, and more Blue and Green. The conveyor is already loaded with three Reds, a Green, and two Pinks, with a Blue cluster hovering above it, ready to drop the moment the level starts. That queue is the first sign of trouble: the belt wants to feed you Red and Pink while the Boxes on display want Purple, Orange, Blue, and Green.

The opening is a race between what the belt delivers and what the Boxes demand:

• Red arrives early and has no home. Three Reds sit at the front of the conveyor, but the Red Box is buried deep in the right receiver stack. Every Red that drops in has to park in the tray until the midgame.
• Pink is the same story. Two Pinks queue behind the Reds and more sit deep in the Boxes; none of their slots are in front yet.
• The numbered tiles are a surprise machine. The pair of blue tiles in the left column is not a safe place to leave a stack — feeding that column can hand you marbles you were not expecting.
• The mystery cell changes colors. A marble that lands on the ”?” tile comes out as something else, and you cannot plan around it until you see the result.
• The back row is locked. The final stretch ends in two padlocked Purple Boxes, so key-carrying marbles are the most valuable pieces on the board.

Treat the left column as a hazard zone for the opening: keep it empty of anything you cannot absorb, and do your sorting in the safer middle and right columns.

Opening: clear the front row before the belt jams

1. Start with the front-row colors that are already visible: drop the Purple marbles in the tray into the Purple Box and the Orange marbles into the Orange Box.
2. Feed the Blue marbles into the Blue Box — one waits in the left tray and more sit deep in the receiver stack.
3. Send the Green marbles, including the one wearing the key icon, into the Green Box so all four front boxes are being fed.
4. Let the queued Reds and Pinks drop, but leave them sitting in the tray instead of forcing them into the wrong boxes — their slots are still buried.
5. Clear the Light Pink and Yellow in the middle columns into their waiting slots behind the front row to open up tray space.

Midgame: work around the tiles

As the front row clears, the Boxes cycle to Red, Brown, Blue, and Dark Blue, and the belt starts delivering Green, Brown, and Pink in clusters.

6. Send the queued Reds into the Red Box as soon as it reaches the front.
7. Move the Browns — one sits in the left column and another rides the belt — into the Brown Box.
8. Keep the Dark Blue matched to its Box, and let the Blue Box fill again as more Blues drop in.
9. When you finally clear the left column, do it in one smooth burst: a Gray marble is riding above the tiles by now, and the tiles will keep changing things while you work. Feed whatever comes out into whichever Box is front and waiting.
10. Leave the mystery cell for last. When it gives up its marble — a key-carrying Yellow by the endgame — drop the Yellow into its Box and keep the key.

Cleanup: unlock the final Purples

The endgame shrinks to a handful of marbles: Blue, a key Yellow, Pink, Orange, Purple, and Green, with the belt still feeding Yellow and the dark-gray cluster.

11. Clear the remaining Blue, Pink, Yellow, and Orange into their Boxes to strip the tray down to the last colors.
12. Feed the final Greens and the dark-gray marbles from the belt as their Boxes come around.
13. Use the key on the locked Purple Boxes, then drop the last Purples to finish the level.
