Marble Sort Level 228 Walkthrough & Solution

Level 228 Board Overview: The Padlocked Tray

Marble Sort level 228 opening board — The Padlocked Tray

Level 228 plays on a block-style board rather than plain tubes. The top tray is a five-column grid packed with colored tiles: three Greens across the top-left, Orange and Yellow on the top-right, and Purple, Brown, Pink, and more Green filling the row beneath. Everything you can safely play sits right there in that opening spread.

The middle of the board is what makes the level hard. A horizontal dark-grey metal chain runs across the tray, sealed by a golden padlock with its keyhole facing down — a locked, immovable obstacle that splits the board and hides whatever sits behind it. Below the chain, a smaller cluster of tiles (Blue, Red, and Cyan on the left side) waits in the lower grid, and a green x2 multiplier bar rides the bottom-left corner of the tray.

The receivers below ask for Yellow, Green, and Orange in the opening front row — the only colors that match the tiles you can reach. At the very bottom, an active slot holds a Light Blue marble with a long curved queue of marbles behind it running Yellow, Green, Blue, and Brown in repeats. That queue is the real danger: it is always full, always mixed, and it will jam the moment you tap a color with nowhere to go.

The Trap in Marble Sort Level 228

The board is built to make you feed the nearest tile and ignore the queue. Here is the layout:

  • The golden padlock seals the center: the chained lock splits the tray and blocks the gap, so you cannot play through the middle — every tile must come from the edges or the lower grid.
  • Only Yellow, Green, and Orange have open Boxes at the start: Purple, Brown, and Pink sit in the second tray row with no receiver in the opening front row. Feed them early and the belt jams before the first Boxes clear.
  • Blue, Red, and Cyan are buried below the chain: their tiles are reachable, but their Boxes sit deep in the receiver stack — forcing them early just parks boxless tiles on the belt.
  • The bottom queue is long and mixed: the active slot starts on Light Blue while the belt behind it runs Yellow, Green, Blue, Brown, and Orange in repeats. If you tap a queued marble whose color has no open Box, the whole line stalls.

Marble Sort Level 228 Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Discipline beats speed. Follow the release order.

Opening: feed the three open colors

Marble Sort level 228 mid-solve board

  1. Tap the Green tiles across the top-left of the tray into the Green Box — they sit on top of the spread with nothing covering them and are completely safe drops.
  2. Feed the Yellow tile on the top-right into a Yellow Box. Yellow is one of the few front-row colors you can commit to without checking the queue first.
  3. Tap the Orange tile beside it once its Box is in reach. Orange has a receiver in the opening row, so it clears as fast as you drop it.
  4. Do not touch the Purple, Brown, or Pink tiles in the second tray row — none of them has an open Box, and parking them on the belt stalls the opening.
  5. Watch the active slot and the queue at the bottom. Only tap a queued marble whose color has an open Box; let the Light Blue, Blue, and Brown marbles ride past until their receivers come forward.
  6. Leave the Blue, Red, and Cyan tiles below the chain alone. Their Boxes sit deep in the stack, so they are midgame colors no matter how reachable they look.

Midgame: the lock loses its grip

Once the Yellow, Green, and Orange Boxes fill, the front row cycles toward Brown, Green, Pink, and Cyan — and the second tray row finally comes into play. The lock stays planted in the center, but it no longer decides what you can feed.

  1. Feed the Brown and Pink tiles from the middle of the tray as their Boxes slide into the front row. They arrive one at a time, so clear them as they come rather than hoarding them.
  2. Work the Purple tile out of the left of the tray into the Purple Box. Purples tend to cluster near the funnel and clear in runs once their receiver opens.
  3. Start peeling the lower grid below the chain: Blue, Red, and Cyan feed as their Boxes rotate forward. Take them from the edges of the cluster, never through the locked center.
  4. Keep the multiplier window in mind — with the x2 bar active, batch matching tiles together to finish a Box in a single pass and clear belt space fast.
  5. If the queue threatens to back up, use the swap power-up to reorder the active slot instead of dumping a tile that has no Box.

Cleanup: feed the stragglers

With the tray nearly empty, the level becomes a straight finishing line. The last tiles funnel down through the center, the belt carries the final marbles, and the receiver columns fill one by one.

  1. Play only to the active front row from here — every remaining tile is a single waiting for its Box to slide forward.
  2. Let the queue cycle the last Purple and Blue marbles as their receivers open. Do not chase colors whose Boxes have already closed.
  3. The final Yellow, Green, and Orange tiles ride the belt into the remaining receivers; drop them the moment their Box is front and center.
  4. Watch the funnel: a stray Purple drops through the middle near the end. Catch it in the Purple Box when it appears rather than letting it sit on the belt.
  5. Clear the final Boxes and the board empties on its own — the level completes the moment the last tile lands.

Level 228 Tips Recap

  • The golden padlock and chain seal the middle of the board — plan around it, never through it.
  • Only feed colors with an open Box: Yellow, Green, and Orange open the level; Purple, Brown, and Pink are bait until the midgame.
  • The bottom queue is long and mixed — tap queued marbles only when their color has a front-row Box, and use the swap power-up to unjam the line.
  • In the endgame the board empties on its own; just cycle the belt and feed the last stragglers into their Boxes.
