Marble Sort Level 186 Walkthrough & Solution

Level 186 Board Overview: Locked Columns and Crate Blinds

Marble Sort level 186 opening board — Locked Columns and Crate Blinds

Level 186 opens with a five-column Top Tray that is only half as friendly as it looks. Two slots are sealed by yellow key locks, and several more are covered by crates, so a large chunk of the opening board is not playable yet.

The marbles in play are Pink, White, Red, Green, Purple, Yellow, Orange, and Grey. The receiver Boxes below do not ask for one color each — every Box requests a mixed sequence (for example, Pink then Orange then Pink then Purple), so you must pour marbles in the exact order each Box expects.

The two Yellow locks sit in the middle columns and each traps a marble beneath it. The usable Yellow rests under the right-hand lock, which makes that column your first real objective.

The Trap in Marble Sort Level 186

The board is laid out to punish impatient first taps:

  • Two Yellow key locks seal the middle columns. A Yellow marble must be poured onto each lock to break it, but the usable Yellow sits buried beneath the right lock — you have to open that column before the center can move.
  • Crates blind several slots. Silver, red, and grey crates cover marbles in the outer and middle columns, forcing you to work the gaps between them early on.
  • Mixed-sequence Boxes. Nearly every Box wants a color order — the left Box opens Pink, Orange, Pink, Purple, for example — so pouring one color straight in can block the slots it needs next.
  • Tempting mid-board colors. Green and Purple sit high and visible in the tray, but their Box slots sit deeper in the sequences; dumping them early jams your belt.

Treat the locked and crated columns as off-limits until the Boxes actually call for the colors trapped behind them.

Marble Sort Level 186 Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Work from the playable edges inward. The steps follow the general order of the solve.

Opening: clear the safe edges

Marble Sort level 186 mid-solve board

  1. Start with the colors that lead a Box sequence — Pink, Red, and Green each open at least one receiver Box.
  2. Feed the Pink marbles from the lower tray into the left Box, which asks for Pink first.
  3. Drop the Reds into the Box that opens with Red, matching one at a time so the sequence stays aligned.
  4. Feed Whites and Oranges only when the next slot in their Box calls for them.
  5. Do not touch the Yellow locks or any marble hidden behind a crate yet — none of those slots are needed by the first Boxes.

Midgame: unlock the center

  1. Work the right-hand column until the Yellow marble beneath its lock is reachable.
  2. Pour that Yellow onto the right lock to break it and free the marbles stacked underneath.
  3. Use any extra Yellow on the second lock to open the other middle column — now the center of the tray is live.
  4. Clear the Green cluster that groups around the middle columns; the Green Boxes are ready to accept them.
  5. Route the Purples one by one into the Boxes that want Purple in their sequence, but only when the preceding slots are already filled.

Cleanup: cycle the mixed Boxes

  1. From here, play purely to the next open slot of each Box: Pink, White, Orange, Grey, Red, Green.
  2. Keep pouring in sequence order — a Box only accepts its next requested color.
  3. The final moves form a short chain: finish the left Box’s Purple tail, close the Red-and-Green pair, and the remaining marbles slide into their last slots.
  4. Leave one Box’s final color for last so nothing gets trapped behind a full column.

Level 186 Tips Recap

  • The Yellow locks are the gatekeepers — free the Yellow under the right lock first, then break the second lock with it.
  • Match the Box sequences: pour a color only when it is the next requested slot.
  • Ignore colors hiding behind crates until their Box calls for them.
  • In the cleanup, play the shortest sequence first so the board drains instead of jamming.
