Marble Sort Level 261 Walkthrough & Solution

Level 261 Board Overview: The Crate-Capped Grid

Marble Sort level 261 opening board — The Crate-Capped Grid

Level 261 plays on a block-grid board instead of the classic trays. A funnel at the top drops tiles into a six-column grid, and at the bottom the board narrows into a conveyor that rides into four receiver bins, each asking for a trio of colors. What you sort never touches a Box above the grid — every tile has to survive the drop, the queue, and the bin row.

The grid itself is a study in delayed gratification. The two outer columns are capped by numbered crates — a “4” on the left and a “3” on the right — and the marbles parked beneath them (Light Pink and Dark Blue on the left, Purple and Red on the right) are sealed behind those counters. The two middle columns hide their second-row tiles under grey mystery ”?” tiles. In the center of the grid, a yellow-and-grey connector pipe runs straight down one column with an Orange block sitting at its base. Only the open tiles — Blue, Light Pink, Light Blue, Maroon, Yellow, and the exposed Orange — are honest at the start.

The receiver bins open friendly: Purple/Blue/Orange, Orange/Yellow/Red, Pink/Blue/Blue, and Orange/Dark Gray/Light Blue. The conveyor is already loaded with Purple, Green, and Blue balls on the top path and a run of three Dark Gray balls below. That gives Blue, Orange, Yellow, Red, Purple, Pink, and Light Blue an early home — and leaves Light Pink, Dark Blue, Maroon, and Green with nowhere to go.

The Trap in Marble Sort Level 261

The board hides its best colors behind counters and mystery tiles. Here is the layout:

  • The “4” and “3” crates seal the outer columns. The left cap sits over Light Pink and Dark Blue, the right cap over Purple and Red. Each crate ticks down as marbles drop through it, so digging into these columns early burns belt space on colors with no bin.
  • Mystery ”?” tiles hide the middle stacks. The grey tiles cover the second row of the two middle columns, over Red studded blocks. Popping them reveals whatever sits underneath — a gamble until the bins cycle.
  • The center connector pipe is the real funnel. The yellow-and-grey pipe in the middle column routes tiles straight down to the conveyor, with an Orange block locked at its base. Everything that falls through it lands on the belt almost immediately.
  • Light Pink, Dark Blue, and Maroon are pure bait. They sit exposed in the grid at the start, but none of the four opening bins asks for them. Feed them early and the belt jams before the first bin row clears.

The board wants you to pop the mystery tiles and dig into the crate columns because that is where the “real” marbles are. Do that and your belt fills with unclaimed Light Pinks and Dark Blues. Instead, clear the exposed colors into their live bins first and let the crates and mystery tiles open on the bins’ schedule.

Marble Sort Level 261 Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Work the open tiles before the sealed ones, then let the counters pay out.

Opening: feed the exposed colors

  1. Tap the Blue tiles into the Blue bin slots — Blue appears twice across the receiver row, so both exposed Blue blocks have homes.
  2. Drop the Orange block at the base of the center pipe into an Orange bin. Orange shows up in three of the four bins, so it is never short of a home.
  3. Tap the Yellow tile into the Yellow bin to close out one of the early requests.
  4. Drop the Red studded blocks beside the mystery tiles into the Red bin — Red has a slot in the second bin, so this clears fast.
  5. Tap the Light Blue tile into its bin slot in the last bin.
  6. Leave Light Pink, Dark Blue, Maroon, and Green alone for now. None of the opening bins asks for them, and parking them on the belt jams the queue.
  7. Let the conveyor do its job: the Purple, Green, and Blue balls already on the belt ride into the bins as their slots rotate forward. Do not stack extra tiles on top of a full belt.

Midgame: crack the crates and pop the mystery tiles

Once the exposed colors clear, the bins cycle and the sealed columns become the main supply. The front row starts asking for the lighter shades — Pink, Light Pink, and Blue — while runs of Pink and Orange ride the belt in sequence.

  1. Start feeding the left crate column. Every tile you drop through the “4” crate ticks the counter down, and the Light Pinks underneath get a home the moment the bins cycle to them.
  2. Work the right crate column the same way: Purple and Red drop through the “3” crate and into their bins as they open.
  3. Pop the mystery ”?” tiles one at a time. Feed whatever they reveal only if a matching bin is live — otherwise leave the tile and come back when the row cycles.
  4. Clear the Purple stack into the Purple bin; it shares a bin with Blue and Orange, so it feeds cleanly once the front row opens.
  5. Keep the belt moving with Pink and Orange runs — the midgame bins ask for them in sequence, and the center pipe keeps pushing fresh tiles straight onto the conveyor.

Cleanup: ride out the final cycle

By the endgame the grid has thinned out and the solve is a straight finishing line. The counters on the outer crates have ticked down — the end state of the video shows both caps down to “2” with the columns nearly fed — and the lower conveyor is carrying crates of Yellow and Blue to finish those bins in batches.

  1. Play strictly to the active bins. Let the Yellow and Blue crates on the belt pay out in batches — one crate finishes its bin in a single pass.
  2. Keep feeding the outer columns through their numbered caps whenever the marbles beneath have a live bin; the counters hit zero on their own.
  3. Close out the last singles one at a time — the remaining bins pull the stragglers down as they cycle to the front.

Level 261 Tips Recap

  • The outer “4” and “3” crates are countdown locks, not obstacles to force: only feed them when the marbles underneath have a live bin.
  • Blue, Orange, Yellow, and Red open the level; Light Pink, Dark Blue, Maroon, and Green are bait until the bins cycle to them.
  • Pop mystery ”?” tiles one at a time, and only when the belt has room for whatever is revealed.
  • In the endgame the counters tick down to “2” and the Yellow and Blue crates on the belt finish the last bins in batches — sort to the active row only.
