Marble Sort Level 396 Walkthrough & Solution

Level 396 Board Overview: The Locked Pocket Grid

Marble Sort level 396 opening board — The Locked Pocket Grid

Level 396 is a hard late-game board played on a stepped tile grid rather than tall uniform columns. The upper tray scatters single colored tiles across its rows instead of stacking them deep: Cyan tiles anchor the left side, Dark Green and Pink sit through the middle rows, Orange and Brown are seated lower, and a Dark Blue tile rides near the top with Yellow filling out the bottom of the grid. No two neighbors feed the same color, so every clear comes one tile at a time.

The belt below feeds the tray through a narrow funnel and opens already loaded with Purple, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Dark Green marbles — a star-charged marble rides at the head of the queue, so the level starts moving before your first tap. At the front of the receiver rack a Cyan request leads, with Brown and Pink sitting close behind, while Orange, Green, Purple, Yellow, Blue, and Dark Green requests wait further down the columns. A pair of grey ’?’ slots in the lower rack keeps part of the target list hidden until their columns fill.

The signature pieces sit on the grid itself. Two shiny numbered badges — a “3” and a “4” — ride the upper stacks and drop several marbles in a single tap, while a large green “5” badge seals a wide pocket of the upper grid like a lock. That lock ticks down once per feed and only gives way after five, so the pace of the whole level is set by its slow countdown.

The Trap in Marble Sort Level 396

The board is rigged to make you spend your biggest drops on the wrong receivers. Here is the layout:

  • The green ‘5’ badge is a five-feed lock, not a bonus: it ticks down one step for every marble you route through the pocket it seals, and the upper pocket stays shut until it hits zero. Treat it as a slow chore, not a quick win.
  • The ‘3’ and ‘4’ markers double your mistakes: those shiny numbered badges release several marbles at once when freed. Send one into a receiver that is not open and the belt jams three or four deep.
  • The rack opens narrow: only Cyan, Brown, and Pink requests front the columns at the start. Purple, Yellow, Green, and Dark Green all ride the belt or sit on the grid early, and feeding them before their requests cycle forward parks junk on the queue.
  • The ’?’ slots hide targets: two grey mystery slots sit in the lower rack, so part of the request list stays unknown until their columns fill around them. Never assume a color you have not revealed.

Marble Sort Level 396 Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Order matters more than speed. Follow the release order.

Opening: feed the front of the rack

Marble Sort level 396 mid-solve board

  1. Read the receiver rack first. Cyan leads the front columns, so every exposed Cyan tile on the grid is a safe first tap.
  2. Feed the Brown and Pink tiles next — their requests sit close behind Cyan in the rack, so they clear while the queue is still short.
  3. Watch the belt order: Purple, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Dark Green already ride toward the funnel. Tap a belt marble only when its color is actually requested and let the rest pass.
  4. Use the star-charged marble at the head of the queue as a bonus: line it up with whichever open request matches and drop it early for a double feed.
  5. Leave the Orange, Dark Green, and Yellow tiles seated in the middle and lower grid alone — no request for them has cycled forward yet.

Midgame: tick the lock and cash the markers

By the middle of the solve the front columns have cycled past Cyan and Brown, and the rack is asking for Orange, Green, and Purple with the Dark Green family coming up behind. The green ‘5’ lock has already ticked partway down, while the ‘3’ and ‘4’ markers still ride the upper-left stacks.

  1. Start feeding the green ‘5’ lock in earnest — every marble routed through it ticks the counter down one step. Keep it moving whenever a matching request is open so the pocket clears on schedule.
  2. Cash the ‘3’ and ‘4’ markers when their color fronts a column: each drops several marbles in one tap, so time them for the request that is front and center.
  3. Work the middle-row tiles one at a time — Orange, Dark Green, and Yellow become fair game as their requests arrive.
  4. Treat every belt arrival the same way: feed only colors with an open request, and let Purple and Green batches ride past until the rack turns to them.
  5. When a ’?’ slot reveals its color, add it to your list and feed it as soon as the cycle brings it to the front — mystery targets usually match a tile you have been parking.

Cleanup: release the pocket and feed the stragglers

With the lock nearly open, the board becomes a straight finishing line. The end frame shows the tray close to done: a Purple cluster still waits in the upper left, a curved run of Pink pieces lines the right side, Orange is moving through the funnel, and the receiver stacks are almost full — a Brown column still needs its last marbles while the Orange, Purple, and Blue stacks have already closed out.

  1. Feed the green ‘5’ lock its final ticks. When it opens, the sealed upper pocket releases what it was holding — sort the spill only into open requests.
  2. Take the late Purple cluster as the rack cycles toward it. Purple waits most of the level, and its column fills quickly once open.
  3. Run the Pink pieces down the right side in order as their request comes around; they arrive in a clean curve, so feed them top to bottom.
  4. Let the funnel carry the final Orange and Blue marbles onto the belt, then feed the last Brown column to empty. The level completes the moment the final marble lands.

Level 396 Tips Recap

  • The green ‘5’ lock is a five-feed countdown — route a marble through it whenever a matching request is open so the pocket clears on schedule.
  • Never free the ‘3’ or ‘4’ markers into a closed receiver; a multi-marble drop into the wrong column jams the belt for the whole midgame.
  • Only feed colors the front rack is asking for — Cyan, Brown, and Pink open the level; Purple, Yellow, Green, and Dark Green wait for their columns to cycle.
  • In the endgame the board is scattered singles: release the locked pocket, feed the Purple and Pink clusters in order, and let the funnel finish the last marbles.
