Marble Sort Level 398 Walkthrough & Solution
Level 398 Board Overview: The Sealed Middle Band

Level 398 plays in the tile-tray style: marbles stack in tall columns that feed down from a top entry, while a conveyor at the bottom keeps cycling new colors into the run. The tray opens almost full, and the visible rows are a mix of every color this level will ask for — Greens, Whites, Blues, and Yellows dominate the upper stacks, with Reds, Purples, Cyans, Pinks, and Browns filling the rows below and riding the belt.
The twist is the middle of the board. Grey lock tiles stamped with a “3” sit inside the upper columns, and a keyed padlock cell guards part of the tray lower down. Those sealed cells mean you cannot simply peel the board top-to-bottom: whole sections stay out of reach until you spend matching colors to break them open.
What the target Boxes want cycles as the run goes on, and the conveyor is already loaded when you start — Whites, Oranges, Reds, Cyans, Blues, and Pinks ride the front of the belt in neat runs. Plan around the belt as much as the tray: a color with no open Box is a jam waiting to happen.
The Trap in Marble Sort Level 398
The tray punishes greedy feeding around its sealed middle band. Here is the layout:
- Grey “3” lock tiles interrupt the columns: they sit in the upper area of the tray and hide whatever stacks beneath them. A lock stamped “3” only gives way once you feed it a matching run of three, so the color it wants is a spend, not a stash.
- A keyed padlock cell seals part of the tray: the keyed block on the lower-left area stays sealed deep into the solve. Do not shape your early game around the marbles behind it.
- The top row is bait-heavy: the exposed top row shows a Brown on the far left and a Pink on the far right with Greens between them. The Greens have company everywhere; the Brown and Pink do not — collect them late, not early.
- The conveyor never stops: Whites, Oranges, Reds, Cyans, Blues, and Pinks arrive in runs from the start. Feed a color with no open Box and the belt backs up while the tray waits.
Marble Sort Level 398 Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Play the open columns first and spend on the locks only when you can finish the job. Follow the release order.
Opening: milk the exposed rows

- Feed Green first — it is the most repeated color in the opening rows, so any Green Box that cycles to the front fills in a few taps and clears real tray space.
- Match White next wherever a Box asks for it. Whites are scattered all the way down the tray, so they are easy pickings that keep the belt moving.
- Take the Blues and Yellows as their Boxes come up. Blue sits stacked above mid-tray Greens, and Yellow repeats in the lower rows, so both arrive in convenient runs.
- Do not touch the Brown on the far left or the Pink on the far right yet. They are fully visible, single drops, and nothing under them is locked — they will still be there when their Boxes cycle.
- Read the belt before every tap: Whites, Oranges, Reds, Cyans, Blues, and Pinks ride the front queue. Only take a belt color whose Box is actually open, and take the belt’s matching runs in full.
Midgame: spend on the locks
By the middle of the solve the front rows have thinned and the Boxes have cycled toward Red, Purple, and Cyan — all of which sit mid-stack in the tray. The belt is running mixed colors now, and the grey “3” lock tiles are the only thing still holding the middle together.
- Feed the mid-stack Reds, Purples, and Cyans as their Boxes open. They are buried just under the top rows, so each match exposes the next layer of the board.
- Commit to a “3” lock only when you can pay its full price in one color: line up the matching trio from the tray and the belt, then spend it to pop the tile and open the column underneath.
- Do not half-spend a lock color. Dumping two of the three into a Box or letting the third ride the belt leaves the tile sealed and the color wasted.
- Keep the keyed padlock cell for last — it sits low in the tray and its marbles do not gate anything you need early. Work every open column around it first.
- When the belt delivers a full matching batch of three, run it end to end: one trip finishes a Box and clears the queue faster than dribbling single taps.
Cleanup: clear the edges
With the middle columns open, the level becomes a straight finishing line. The remaining work sits on the flanks — Browns and Oranges on the left, Pinks and Purples on the right — with the keyed block still sealed in the late frames of the run.
- Clear the left column’s Brown and Orange cluster once its Box cycles forward. These were the opening bait, and they drop straight into the front Box with nothing in the way.
- Collect the Pinks and Dark Purples on the right side the same way — visible singles that only need their Box to come around.
- Play only to the active front row from here. Feed the queued Purples, Oranges, Whites, and Blues as their Boxes open and let the belt cycle past colors whose receivers have already closed.
- The video’s final frames catch the solve mid-run with the keyed block still sealed — if your own run looks the same, keep cycling the belt and clear the stragglers one Box at a time.

Level 398 Tips Recap
- Open with the colors that repeat — Green, White, Blue, and Yellow — and leave the single Browns and Pinks on the edges for their Boxes to come around.
- A grey “3” lock tile is a spend: save the matching trio and pop it in one go instead of dribbling the color away.
- Play the conveyor, not the whole tray — take a belt color only when its Box is open, and run full batches when you can.
- The keyed padlock cell stays sealed late into the solve; sort everything around it and treat it as the last mechanism on the board.
