Marble Sort Level 399 Walkthrough & Solution
Level 399 Board Overview: The Key-Capped Center Blocker

Level 399 is a Hard board built around one structure: a dark obstacle mass planted in the middle of the tray. The two outer columns run tall and full while the center of the board sits pinned underneath that black cluster, so the opening plays out along the flanks. Above the tray a funnel feeds blocks down onto the belt, and below it the receiver columns wait in stacked rows for the colors the blocks release.
The visible colors are honest and clustered. Red fronts the opening — Red blocks sit high in the outer stacks and the belt arrives preloaded with a run of Reds — with Blue, Purple, and Cyan requests showing in the receiver grid behind it. Grey blocks sit buried mid-stack in several columns, and Green, Pink, and a few Dark Blues round out the tray. The receiver grid does not show all its colors at once: much of it is hidden under grey ’?’ mystery slots, so you are feeding partly into the unknown.
The special elements are what make the level read as hard. Both outer columns are crowned by key blocks, and the receiver grid carries a padlocked slot that refuses marbles until the key business is done. The belt opens loaded with Red, Red, Red, Blue, Orange, Purple, and Purple — and Orange has no visible receiver at the start. Nothing about this opening is a straight line: clear the reachable flanks, treat the mystery slots and the lock as gates, and let the center mass thin out before you plan around it.
The Trap in Marble Sort Level 399
The tray is rigged to punish anyone who clears it without watching the receivers. Here is the layout:
- The center mass hides a third of the board: the black obstacle cluster pins the middle columns at the start, so the blocks behind it are unreachable during the opening. Plan around the flanks until it thins out mid-solve.
- The keys are the unlock path: key blocks cap both outer columns and a padlocked slot sits in the receiver grid. The outer columns are not just your opening colors — they are the route to freeing that locked slot.
- Orange rides the belt with no home: the conveyor starts with an Orange queued between the Reds and the Purples, but no visible receiver asks for Orange. Feed it early and it parks on the belt with nowhere to go.
- ’?’ mystery slots hide the requests: half the receiver grid starts as grey question marks, so early drops are guesswork. Commit a color into an unknown slot and you may be feeding the wrong column.
- The mid-stack Greys look like junk: several columns bury Grey blocks under the colors you actually want. They gain receivers only after the opening requests cycle, so force them early and you jam the belt for nothing.
Marble Sort Level 399 Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Respect the release order. The belt feeds faster than the receivers open, so discipline beats speed here.
Opening: feed the honest requests

The front of the receiver grid is asking for Red and Blue, and the belt hands you exactly those colors first. That alignment is the whole opening.
- Read the front receiver requests before tapping anything — Red and Blue lead, with Purple and Cyan waiting behind them in the grid.
- Tap the three Reds off the front of the belt into the Red receivers while they are open; the run clears several slots in one pass.
- Feed the Blue that follows straight down as well, then check what the next receiver request shows before you continue.
- Let the Purples behind the Blue drop only while a Purple request is visible. The receiver grid holds a Purple slot, so it is legal — just do not stack Purples past the demand.
- Leave the Orange on the belt alone. No receiver is asking for it yet, and parking it wastes the space the Reds and Blues need.
- Start on the outer columns, clearing the reachable Red, Cyan, and Blue blocks into their open requests while keeping the mid-stack Greys in place — they have no Box until the next wave of requests arrives.
Midgame: unlock the flanks, open the center
Once the opening requests fill, the receiver columns rotate: Grey, Teal, and Dark Blue requests slide forward, the ’?’ mystery slots start resolving, and the padlocked slot comes into play. That is your cue to change targets.
- Feed the Grey blocks you held in the outer stacks the moment a Grey request shows — they were buried precisely because they matter at this stage.
- Work down the outer columns to their key caps. Free a key only when the board around the locked slot is ready; the key is the token that deals with the padlock, not a color to sort.
- Tap the key-capped column in the order that clears the blocks above it first, so the unlock does not leave a half-column stranded.
- As the center mass thins, the middle columns spill their Green, Red, and Cyan blocks. Feed each only while its request is front and center — these are the blocks the opening was hiding.
- Reveal the ’?’ mystery slots by completing the columns around them. If a reveal matches an open request, feed it; if not, leave it and let the column wait.
- Keep the belt short through the rotation: with Grey, Dark Blue, and Teal all cycling at once, a single wrong drop can crowd the funnel and stall the run.
Cleanup: feed the stragglers
The end frame catches the board in its final stretch: the tray is nearly empty, the receiver grid has closed out most of its columns, and only a few scattered blocks remain in play.
- Play only to the active front row from here — the last Purple, Yellow, Orange, and Brown blocks land as their requests slide forward.
- Let the remaining singles drop in arrival order; do not chase a color whose receiver has already closed.
- Finish the final columns as the stragglers land. The level completes the moment the last block drops, so keep the belt clear and let the empties pull the rest down on their own.

Level 399 Tips Recap
- Red and Blue open the level — the belt is preloaded with them, so feed the front of the queue in order and ignore everything else at first.
- Orange is pure bait in the opening: it rides the belt with no visible receiver until the midgame rotation.
- The key-capped outer columns are your unlock path to the padlocked slot — clear them in order, and never force a key before the lock is ready.
- Treat ’?’ mystery slots as gates: reveal them by completing nearby columns, and only feed a revealed color whose request is actually open.
